M. Atk and L. Atk question

I'm just really confused. What is the difference bet. L. Atk and M. Atk? How does each work? and what do you suggest i increase if im taking the path of a priest going inquisitor (DPS/TANK)

Well some skills in the Priest skill tree deal Light Magic so increasing your light magic will increase the damage on those skills. I would mainly just focus on MAtk for now and then start collecting light magic later at around 40 cap?
